Our Mission
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our story. It has been said that there is a purpose to all suffering, and although that may be hard to understand, I believe it to be true. On June 5, 2013, my daughter Kaylie, passed suddenly of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy). It was sudden and it was very unexpected. She was an English teacher at Martin County West High School in Sherburn, Minnesota. I experienced firsthand what it feels like to have a tragic loss in life, and I also saw the agony her students experienced by her sudden death. Just when I thought things could not get worse, the unthinkable happened on March 7, 2014, when my son Tyler, was tragically killed in a car accident in our small town of Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, along with 3 other local boys. As I felt the crushing blows of this loss, I also saw the way it affected everyone around me.
Hardships will happen, some large, some small – no one is exempt from suffering. How do we handle the setbacks in life? How do we turn those setbacks into opportunities to change the world? Often we cannot control our circumstances, but we can control how we will react to those circumstances. My mission, along with the love and support from Kaylie and Tyler, is to help others who are hurting to find hope. I find my greatest hope in the Lord. Wherever you are, whatever you are looking for, I believe I can help you find it.
More about my story and my journey to find healing can be found in the Morning God Boost book and journal.
